RSVP Staff and students are
involved in the recruitment process. Purchase College RSVP
students are encouraged to visit their previous community
college to talk about their summer research at Purchase and
academic life. Since September 2005, students have made at least
two visits to each of the three community colleges.

2006, Biochemistry students John Vega and
Luis Jusino along Dr. Skrivanek and Theresa James
visited with DCC Pre-Professional Science and Medicine
Club.
John and Luis, both DCC alumni, presented their summer
research findings. In addition, Dr. Skrivanek did a
presentation and Theresa James talked about life at
Purchase College.

2006 Theresa James, Junie Bertrand, RCC alma mater and
Marissa Goberdhan visited
students at RCC. This visit included a motivational speech by
Junie Bertrand, a Purchase College junior. In In addition,
Marissa Goberdhan a Purchase College senior, did a presentation
entitled “Comparison of the Efficacy of Novel Organoselenium
Compounds in the Chemoprevention of NMU Tumor Cell Growth.”

visited Westchester Community College. This was one of the
largest group of students since the
beginning of the program to attend a recruitment reception. Dr.
Frank Bellevue did a presentation
entitled
“Anti fungal agents from Flora”. Theresa James presented a power
point presentation on life at Purchase and the summer research
program.
