Social Psychology of AIDS; Phenomenological Psychology; Social
Psychology of Prisons.
Areas of Expertise: psychology of gender, social influence,
women and prison.
Research Interests: The social construction of gender,
with particular emphasis on those categories that violate our culture's
gender assumptions (transsexuality, intersexuality)
Honors and Awards: Purchase College Student Union Award
for Outstanding Faculty Member in the Letters and Sciences, 1996; SUNY
Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, 1994; NYS/UUP Continuing
Faculty Development Award.
