ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements
(minor in Environmental Studies)
A total of 120 credits is required for the B.A. degree in Environmental
Studies. The required core of the Environmental Studies program comprises
nine foundation courses within three categories: Natural Science,
Social Structure and Function, and Research and Data Analysis
courses. Students pursuing the degree must earn a grade of C or higher in
each required course, as well as a minimum 2.0 GPA for all courses.

Further coursework to fulfill the
College requirements of 120 total and 45 upper-level credits provides
students with depth of knowledge in a specific area: environmental
biology, environmental policy, or environmental economics.
The choice of focal field reflects the student’s personal interests and
career goals. In consultation with an advisor, students select a suite of
elective courses, including at least two upper-level selections in the
focal field. We have identified appropriate courses in both the natural
and social science disciplines (see below); some have formal
prerequisites.
