STUDENT CHAPTER
INTRODUCTION
The Purchase Chemical Society (PCS) is the local student affiliate
of the American Chemical
Society. The organization is solely
run by the students. The Goal of the Purchase Chemical Society
is to further the professional growth of students in the field
of chemistry. The organization helps broaden the scope of
chemistry at Purchase beyond the classroom situation. The
Purchase Chemical Society provides guidance for post graduate
employment, graduate studies, as well as counseling of lower
division Students by junior and senior chemistry students.
MEMBERSHIP
Everyone interested in chemistry or chemistry-related disciplines
is welcome to become a member. Students of other disciplines
are also welcomed at our biweekly meetings. In particular students
who are a little undecided about their major and are thinking
about chemistry as their field of study are especially encouraged
to become members.
ACTIVITIES
The PCS has a variety of activities each academic year. These
activities include career seminars, lecture series, and various
social functions. We also undertake trips and visitations
to various industrial chemical labs, lecture presentations at
a neighboring universities, and group attendance to the

Jersey.
