I
found out about
the Bridges
program when
I read its advertisement
on the Viking,
the Westchester
Community College
newspaper. I
also received
a letter to
inform me about
the program.
The
most helpful
feature of the
Bridges program
to me has been
the hands-on
approach to
research. The
intensive 5-weeks
research programs
over the last
two summers
were wonderful
experiences
for me. I learned
a huge amount
of things, some
of which I would
not be able
to learn in
a classroom. Another
feature that
is very helpful
is the incentive
to participate
in enriching
experiences,
such as internships, teaching
assistantships,
and a student
conference. These
experiences
have helped
me a lot in
deciding my
career goals,
since I was
able to observe
professionals
in my area of
study performing
their daily
activities in
the real world.
The
Bridges program
has enabled me
to learn a lot
in a short period
of time. With
the support of
the Bridges program
I was able to
pursue very interesting
activities, which
contributed greatly
to enrich my academic
curriculum. The
Bridges program
has been instrumental
in helping me
achieve my educational
and life goals
and I am sure
that the experience
I acquired will
be extremely valuable
to me when I apply
to graduate school.
