During the second week of this exercise, you need to check your culture vial. Look for (1) healthy F1 adults that you added to the vial last week, and (2) small larvae wriggling around in the culture medium. There should not yet be any pupae present if it has only been one week since the culture was started.
In order to carefully observe the ratios of phenotypes in the F2 generation, it is necessary for you to remove the F1 parents now, before the larvae mature into adults. Also add yeast or water if necessary to keep the culture alive and healthy.
