Drosophila Inheritance

Goals:

1. Determine the genotype and phenotype of the P generation, when only viewing the traits of the F1 and F2 generations.

2. Learn about caring for and experimenting with Drosophila melanogaster by culturing flies from an unknown cross in order to learn about the traits of the offspring.

3. Practice genetic analysis using Punnett square to predict results from a hypothesized cross. Gain practice in statistical analysis using chi square procedures to analyze results.
